Barcode consultant

- To enable public health institutions to supply quality assured essential pharmaceuticals at affordable prices in a sustainable manner to the public;
- To play a complementary role in developmental efforts for health service expansion and strengthening by ensuring enhanced and sustainable supply of pharmaceuticals;
- To create enabling conditions for enhancing the accumulation of funds in its revolving and cost recovery process and thereby ensure the realization of the objectives.

- Reviews available strategies, assessment reports and other evidence in EPSS in relation to barcoding system.
- Organize consultative and validation workshop to present the result of the analysis and recommendations.
- Engages with different stakeholders in the area.
- Works on-site at the EPSS warehouse- the consultant will study various operations and collaborate with employees to gain valuable insights.
- Analyzes the current EPSS operations performance.
- Design the new barcoding system architecture based on the findings.
- Determine which operations must be handled by the central warehouse and selected hubs. These operations need to be supported by the ERP, which is expected to be implemented in the near future.
- Ensures activities performed by DHA are recorded and reported as per the reporting standard.
- Produces Final Assessment report with recommendations
- Responsible for implementing JSI's Accountability Framework and Code of Conduct, and adhering to JSI's polices on fraud management and child safeguarding policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Applicants for this position should possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline (IT, information systems, etc.) is required.
- Minimum 7-years of Experience in warehouse operations, with a proven track record of implementing advanced technological solutions such as barcodes.
- Experience working with in public agencies and/or Ministry of Health
- Experience from other local and international organizations is considered a plus.
- The candidate should have a deep understanding of standard warehouse operations and be able to provide insights and recommendations for process improvement.
- Previous work experience with USAID-funded projects is desirable.
- Strong representational and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal English; proficiency in Amharic. Ability to prepare and present technical information to partners.
- Proficiency in common computer packages (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel) relevant to the work.
- Note that the role requires some level of physical presence at the EPSS office - the extent of which will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
